Idle Words

My friends, we must be careful with the words that comes out of our mouths. Idle words are dangerous. Even if there are no malicious intent behind what we say, we must think before we speak. But even if there was a sinister reason behind our words, the person must take accountability for what was spoken. The Lord warned us about idle words.

Matthew 12:36 – “I tell you that everyone will have to give an account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.” What we speak should be monitored because if we slip up, our words can come back to nip us on the bun.

Matthew 12:34 – “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” So if the person is evil, then it is evil he or she speaks. If the heart is full of resentment and Anger, what is spoken is how they feel because their words are like daggers. They are intentionally said to hurt the other person.

This is also one way of judging the character of a person. If all we hear from them is hateful talk about so and so for no apparent reason or they are wishing death on someone, they are using their energy and words to purposely harm the individual in question. For me personally, I can NEVER get angry enough to wish harm on ANYONE. I know how powerful words can be. Cursing someone or using swear words are not advised. But in order for us to control our words, we have to make sure we are able to control our emotions.

I am guilty of speaking out of tongue or not minding my words. Whenever I am blindsided by disrespect or someone is ignorantly accusing me of something just because they can – I get defensive. I spoke more on this in This is Just My Personality. It is hard for me to control my emotions when people think they know me more than I know myself or they continue to criticize me for things they conclude that I am doing wrong. My mouth works faster than my brain so I have tendencies to put someone in their place quick before I have the chance to stop, step back, and recollect my thoughts.

However, thanks be to God, my patience is slowly coming up from underneath the surface. I hardly ever swear anymore because let me tell you…. there was a curse word in at least every other sentence. Why? I don’t know, maybe I thought it added a little flavor to the language. I never said I was perfect! Even when I stub my toe, I scream in my head and tighten my fist but that is as far as it goes.

Even though I am making progress, I need to focus on not letting people get the upper hand in making me act out of character. Once people are aware that they are upsetting us, they push the boundaries just to see how mad they can make us. When I improve on controlling my negative emotions and minding my words, I’ll know that my patience is sizzling with fire from the Holy Spirit! I will know that my improvements were not because of me alone.

Curses

When people wish bad things on others, they are in for a rude awakening. Do NOT wish harm on anyone because those words can come back to bite us. When an individual curses or does voodoo on someone, they have to think twice on who they are trying to harm. If they are wishing harm on someone who is under the Lord’s protection, that curse will never manifest because the person is under the Lord’s shield. If the person is a born again believer, he or she will not be an easy target when it comes to curses because the Lord will not allow His children to fall under such wicked spells.

Yes, this does not mean this born again believer is saved from committing sins or from the woes of life, I am simply stating that any wicked spells that are conjured up by sorcerers will be renounced and stopped. If the Lord so chooses, those spells might be returned back to sender. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Even now, we don’t know if we have enemies/fake friends praying on our downfall or for us to fall morbidly sick because they despise our guts. Those prayers will NOT come to pass because if our Purpose in Life is assigned by God Himself, NO ONE can EVER get in the way of that. Nothing and no one. Impossible.

But my fellow readers and viewers, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit must be present. He will progressively cleanse us from our sinful nature and protect us. He is our Helper. We must know God if we want to be fully protected from curses that are meant to do us harm. My friends, this is SERIOUS. We live in a world where demons are prevalent in our lives. They are possessing individuals and are using them as a pawn to do evil.

Evil has been around since the beginning of this world. Malevolent forces are looking and seeking for who they can inhabit as a vessel. These unclean spirits are on a mission to bring as many people as they can to Hell without being detected. They are crafty and they can come in many forms. They are deceivers and manipulators. That is why it is important to put on the shield of faith and the Armor of God because we are living in wicked, wicked times.

Any idle words that are devilish in nature will be thwarted in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Any wishes of harm, any weapon that is formed against us, will be stopped and dissipated in the Lord’s Mighty Name. But our faith has to be strong!

Having faith in the Lord is trusting Him that He will always pull us through bad times and believing that He will always be there to pull us out of perilous circumstances when necessary. Faith in God is assuring ourselves that the Creator of this Universe is exceptionally capable of surpassing our expectations so that we may experience His greatness on Earth. Believing in Him is fighting every possible doubts in our bodies and leaving our troubles and worries at the feet of the Lord. That is why without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

Sorry if I went off topic, I just want to make sure that my point is getting across in more ways than one. Our battles are not with the flesh (humans) but it is with “…spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm” (Ephesian 6:12, NIV). But let’s move forward.

Idle words are words we use carelessly without a second thought. If they can so easily escape from our mouths without us feeling remorseful about what was said, we are in big trouble. Why? Because if we do not see the issue in how powerful our words can be, we will remain forever ignorant on how to change.

The Lord brought the world into existence simply by saying, “Let there be…” The Lord’s words were and are used for something good, positive and beautiful. Our voice is our biggest asset. For me, I pray that the Lord continues to cleanse and purify me so my words represent what is in my heart. Having patience, or lack thereof, is my biggest issue so I know once I get a handle on that, my words will not be spoken so carelessly.
